The essence
In Greek myth, Ouranos was the sky itself, partner of Gaia, the earth. He refused to make room for his children and pushed them back into her body, until his son Kronos, the Roman Saturn, struck him with a sickle. The story captures the planet well: Uranus sees the big picture from a great height and has little patience for whatever ties it down.
Uranus was the first planet found with a telescope, spotted by William Herschel on March 13, 1781, between the American and French revolutions. It even spins on its side, tilted about 98 degrees. In modern astrology it rules Aquarius and is linked to the 11th house of friends, groups and shared hopes.
Where Saturn builds structure, Uranus tests whether that structure still serves you. It shows up as insight, accident or rebellion, changes that feel jarring at the time and obvious in hindsight. Uranus doesn't ask permission. It points to where you're living someone else's script.
