A gate alone is a potential. When the gate at each end of a connection is activated, the whole channel switches on — a fixed current between two centers, and one of the strongest single statements a bodygraph can make.

The bodygraph strings 36 channels between its nine centers, each channel ending in two of the 64 gates. Activate one end only and you carry that gate's theme as a persistent aptitude — always slightly seeking its other half. Activate both ends — whether both come from your own chart or one from Personality and one from Design — and the channel completes: a continuous, lifelong current that defines both centers it touches.

Completed channels are the load-bearing beams of a chart. Ask someone with the 34–20 channel of charisma or the 12–22 channel of openness what people always say about them; the channel is usually the answer.

Circuits and the integration four

Tradition groups the channels into circuits with family resemblances — individual channels that mutate and empower, tribal channels that support and bargain, collective channels that share and correct. Four channels stand apart: the integration channels, woven between gates 10, 20, 34, and 57, each of which participates in three channels — a dense knot of self-preservation and authentic behaviour near the chart's core.

The 36 Channels FAQs

What's the difference between a gate and a channel?

A gate is half a connection — a theme you carry consistently. A channel is the completed whole: both end-gates active, both centers defined, the theme upgraded from aptitude to fixed life-force.

Can a channel be half mine and half my Design's?

Yes — one gate from your black Personality column and one from your red Design column complete a channel exactly as well. Many people's most defining channels are built this way, part known self, part body-inheritance.

Can transits give me a channel temporarily?

Yes. When a transiting planet activates the gate opposite one you carry, the channel completes for the duration — and both its centers define temporarily. Transit watchers often feel these windows distinctly.

What are the integration channels?

The four channels woven among gates 10, 20, 34, and 57 — each of those gates carries three channels, uniquely. Their shared theme is survival and authenticity: behaving as yourself, in the moment, in your own way.
