Every bodygraph is full of half-finished sentences — single gates reaching toward a partner gate they do not have. When another person carries the missing half, the channel completes only when you are together. How does Human Design compatibility work?

Human Design reads a relationship as mechanics, not fortune. Both charts are laid over one another, and every place they touch is classified: electromagnetic channels, where you each hold one half of a channel and complete it together — the spark; companionship channels, where you both carry the same definition and simply recognize each other; and compromise and dominance, where one chart carries a whole channel the other meets with half of it, or none of it. None of these are grades. They are descriptions of what it actually feels like to share a room, a bed, a life.

What is an electromagnetic channel?

The famous one — the reason strangers sometimes feel like unfinished sentences. A channel in Human Design runs between two gates. When you carry one gate and the other person carries the other, the channel only exists when you are together: two half-notes making a chord neither of you can play alone. That completion registers in the body as attraction, chemistry, magnetism. It is also, honestly, friction — the same wiring that pulls you in can chafe over years. Knowing which channels are electromagnetic between you names the pull.

Do our Human Design types need to match to be compatible?

No pairing of types is doomed, and none is guaranteed. The type-pair reading describes the default texture of the connection — a Generator's steady engine beside a Projector's penetrating focus is a famously nourishing exchange, while two Manifestors must negotiate two independent wills. What matters far more is whether each of you lives your own strategy and authority. Two people running their own designs correctly can make almost any pairing work; two people running on not-self themes will struggle even in an "ideal" match.

What do I need to check compatibility, and is it free?

Both birth dates, birth times, and birth places — the same facts any bodygraph needs, once for each of you. Birth time matters: profile lines and several activations hang on it, so dig out the birth certificates if you can.
