What is a Venus sign?

What is the difference between a morning star Venus and an evening star Venus?

Venus is never far from the Sun, so it is seen either just before sunrise or just after sunset. If Venus rose ahead of the Sun on your birthday you have a morning star Venus — the one who loves first, pursues openly, and learns about love by risking it. If Venus set after the Sun you have an evening star Venus — the one who loves after, receives, weighs, and learns by reflecting. What does it mean if Venus was retrograde when I was born?

Venus turns retrograde for about six weeks every nineteen months, so only around seven people in a hundred are born with it. A retrograde Venus at birth tends to learn love from the inside out: values that are entirely your own rather than borrowed, a heart that may bloom later than your friends did, and a recurring theme of the second look — the return, the reunion, the relationship revisited. It is a slower Venus, and a deeper one.

What does the house of my Venus mean?

Your Venus sign says how you love; the house says where love and pleasure show up in your life — through friendship, work, home, travel, creativity, partnership, and so on. The house comes from your birth time and birthplace, so it needs an accurate time. If you do not know your time, the calculator still gives you your Venus sign, its star phase, and its aspects, and simply leaves the house unnamed.
