IC & Descendant Lines
Roots, and the people you meet
These are the quieter two of the four angles: the IC line, where a planet colors your home and roots, and the Descendant line, where it shows up in the form of other people. Quieter, but not weaker.

The IC, or Imum Coeli (the lowest point of the sky), rules home, family, foundations, and the private self the public never gets to inspect. Along a planet's IC line, that planet moves into the basement of your life, shaping where you live, how you rest, and what belonging feels like.
Moon IC ground is the classic home line, and many people say they finally feel settled there. Venus IC ground makes a home beautiful and welcoming. Saturn IC ground supports building real foundations, such as property, family duty, and long roots, though it can weigh heavily on someone who already feels lonely. Pluto IC ground renovates you from the cellar up. IC lines rarely make headlines; instead, they quietly write family histories.
The Descendant — the meeting line
The Descendant is the setting point, directly opposite the Ascendant, and it serves as the chart's doorway for other people: partners, close friends, and open rivals. Along a planet's DC line you tend to meet that planet rather than embody it, as its qualities show up in the people the place keeps introducing you to.
Venus DC ground is the traditional romance line, where loved ones seem to find you. Jupiter DC ground brings generous allies and lucky introductions. Mars DC ground brings passionate partners and worthy opponents, sometimes rolled into one person. Saturn DC ground brings serious commitments and teaches you about contracts. On any DC line, look honestly at that planet in your birth chart, because what you meet there is your own planet reflected back.

Which line is best for finding love?
Venus lines top the traditional list, above all the Venus Descendant line, where the planet of love arrives in the form of other people. Moon and Jupiter DC lines are warm runners-up. As always, the condition of the planet in your birth chart sets the quality of what the line brings.
Is an IC line a good place to buy a home?
IC lines are the natural lines for home and roots, and the benefic ones (Moon, Venus, Jupiter) are classic picks for settling down. Saturn IC can also anchor property and permanence; just expect the mortgage to feel very real there.
Do Descendant lines only affect romance?
No. The Descendant covers every significant other: business partners, best friends, and declared rivals alike. A DC line colors the whole cast of people a place brings into your life.
Why do IC and MC lines come in pairs?
They're the two ends of a single axis. When a planet culminates along one meridian, it anti-culminates along the meridian on the opposite side of the globe. Every MC line has an IC twin, just as career and home are two ends of one life.
