The Relocated Chart

A relocated chart re-casts your birth moment for a different place on Earth: same planets, same aspects, but a new Ascendant, new Midheaven, and new houses. If astrocartography is the telescope, this is the microscope.

A relocated chart uses your real birth date and time, converted to the local clock of the new place, along with that place's latitude and longitude. The planets are so far away that they don't care where on Earth you stand; they keep their zodiac positions to the arc-second. The angles, though, are local. The Ascendant is whichever degree was rising over that horizon at your birth instant, so the entire house wheel turns to fit the new sky.
Reading one is familiar work. Planets on the new angles are the headline, and the new house placements tell the story. A natal 3rd-house Mars that relocates to the 1st stops being a busy pen and becomes a visible temper. Same Mars, new room.
When to cast one
Cast a relocated chart when a specific place is genuinely on the table: a move, a job, a year of study, a serious romance with a city. It answers the practical question the world map raises. Astrocartography might show your Jupiter line running through Portugal; the relocated chart for Lisbon shows exactly which house Jupiter rules and occupies from there, and what the rest of your chart is doing in the meantime.
Remember that the frame is the only thing that moved. A hard natal aspect stays hard in every city on Earth. A relocated chart can move it out of the spotlight, but not off the stage.

Does a relocated chart replace my natal chart?
No, it adds to it. Your natal chart stays the master document; the relocated chart shows how one particular place reframes it while you're living there.
Do relocated houses really change my life?
They shift the emphasis. People often notice the themes of newly angular planets coming forward within months of a move: more career noise under a strong Midheaven planet, more pull toward home and family under a strong IC. The chart names the tilt.
What if I don't know my birth time?
Relocation work leans heavily on the angles, and the angles depend on the clock. With an unknown birth time, the relocated houses are guesswork, though the planets' signs and aspects remain reliable.
Can I relocate a solar return chart too?
